We are currently looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join our accounting team, starting immediately.

Position Summary

Working in a small team, the Intermediate Accountant will be responsible for performing daily, weekly, and monthly bookkeeping tasks and assisting other finances and office related deliverables. The ideal candidate is someone who is a good communicator and has excellent time management and attention to detail skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, balance sheet, income statement accounts
  • Posting journal entries, invoicing, and contract and vendor management
  • Preparing sales commission reports for payroll
  • Maintain up to date bank balances to support cash planning
  • Prepare and submit GST/HST/PST tax returns and supporting documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with necessary governing bodies relating to sales tax and environmental fees
  • Review and maintain accounting schedules including fixed assets, continuity and depreciation, amortizations, prepaid authorizations, revenue allocations etc.
  • Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable where required
  • Troubleshooting and assisting other employees with accounting related inquiries
  • Assist with preparation of annual working papers
  • Ensure continuous quality improvement and compliance with financial policies and procedures, as well as internal controls.
  • Assist with other accounting projects as required

Qualifications

  • University degree/diploma required (concentration in accounting) and enrollment in CPA program is a bonus
  • 2-5 years accounting experience which includes AR, AP and GL
  • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work
  • Works well as part of a team and willing to be a supportive team player
  • Excellent data entry skills, including attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, with high proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using an accounting software
  • Experience with Netsuite One World is an asset
